Veganic Growing...
Veganic. Think of it as Vegan-Organic, meaning certified organic growing that is free from the use of animal products (manures, blood, bone or fish meals, etc.) & uses strictly plant-based materials. This type of growing decreases the potential risk of contamination from animal-related diseases & doesn't introduce the hormones & other things fed animals that could have negative impacts to the environment & our health. For us, veganic growing has been many years in the making researching just what combinations of plant materials would achieve the proper balance of nutrients in the soil. The system that we have developed involves growing plants in a more natural manner than most traditional greenhouse organic methods and uses plant fertilizers that we have created using local waste plant materials. We use strictly local plant-based materials, our own plant waste products, & ash from our Bio-mass boiler as fertilizer. We grow all of our tomatoes & field crops Veganically & are working on switching our micro greens, lettuces & herbs over to this system, & have plans to become completely veganic as soon as we can.
